La vita di un musicista incuriosisce sempre, perché la musica ci sembra l’arte più vicina a Dio, un buon biografo deve però avere la capacità di vedere il lato umano dell’artista e saperlo raccontare. Katie Hafner c’è riuscita perfetta in "Glenn Gould" (Einaudi, 2009).
La biografia del famoso pianista, ripercorre le principali tappe della sua vita, racconta gli inizi difficili e i successivi trionfi di un artista che può piacere o non piacere, ma che ha lasciato un segno nella musica contemporanea. È importante l’attenzione data allo strumento, il pianoforte, che viene affidato ai migliori accordatori del tempo.
Non vengono taciute le difficoltà nella vita privata, priva di un vero e proprio centro affettivo e legata a sintomi nevrotici non indifferenti. Gli ultimi capitoli sono dedicati alla precoce malattia e alla morte, inseguita quasi fosse una liberazione.
Libro da consigliare agli amanti della musica in quanto opera molto piacevole. Forse qualcuno si innamorerà dell’artista e sicuramente della sua arte.
