Sapete dirmi che differenza c’è tra un provos olandese (1965) e un mods londinese ((1963)? E - questa è più difficile - tra un gammler (1964) e un folkies (1966)? Stiamo parlando di fauna metropolitana nel bel mezzo dei formidabili Sessanta, gente!
Stiamo parlando di moda e modi di vivere, matusa contro giovani, hippies e hippie trailers. In alcuni casi parliamo anche di dolce vita e fellinismo (1960), per il resto sono e saranno sempre sciarpe, scarpe, giacche, moto, polsini, cravatte, cappelli, capelli, persino divise, fucili e pistole (dalle Guardie Rosse ai Vietcong, dai Feddayn agli studenti in rivolta del Maggio Francese) a dettare storia (del costume) e differenze. Se vi fidate (e c’è da fidarsi) della trasversalità di Matteo Guarnaccia (è attivo nel campo dell’arte, del design, della contro-cultura) assumetelo a Virgilio e staccate il biglietto per un viaggio illustrato fra le tendenze anni Sessanta: “Dreamers & Dissenters” (letteralmente: sognatori & dissidenti) è il libro che fa per voi.
Niente apologia del passato, nessun nostalgismo canaglia, giuro: piuttosto l’ennesima bibbietta (curata con Giulia Pivetta) sul microcosmo social-modaiolo del Decennio per antonomasia, una guida-saggio che non mancherà di informare e divertire al prezzo di uno, senza starla a menare con sociologismi e pipponi da accademia ufficiale.
Il bello di questo libro sta proprio qui: si punta e si arriva dritti alla meta senza darlo a vedere; in surplace & soavità di stile. Tra le pagine, però - credetemi - c’è tutto ciò che occorre conoscere sui look (e dunque i vezzi e le ipocondrie) dei duali Sessanta: velleitarismo e militanza, un campionario assortito di sogni e un altro di realtà, ricchezza e depressione, beatlesmania e black panthers, corsa al consumismo e, per qualcuno, ritorno allo stato di natura.
I disegni sopperiscono alle canoniche fotografie: piuttosto che le conigliette di “Playboy” su carta patinata, quelle disegnate nei dettagli dei loro costumi; piuttosto che le abusate immagini-simbolo del conflitto, l’armamentario del guerrigliero perfetto, da giungla o da città, che sia. Il libro è di medio formato, stampato in azzurro, su carta che evoca il ciclostile (che bella idea!), la copertina è invasa dai colori della bandiera americana, autentica immanenza del nostro passato e del nostro presente.
