Niente da fare: il germe di Alien è segnatamente horror. Più mi riguardo il film e più me ne convinco: un germe orrorifico innestato nel corpus del genere fantascienza. Un po’ come fa il mostro quando si innerva nei corpi degli astronauti della navicella Nostromo, contaminandoli, se rendo l’idea. Facciamo allora che Alien di Ridley Scott - dalla cui sceneggiatura è tratta la novellizzazione di Alan Dean Foster - è il fanta-horror per eccellenza e andiamo oltre.
Al netto della sua apoteosi tensiva, Alien si impone come film precorritore della tematica sull’ibrido, cioè sulla carne (post)umana innestata all’inorganico. Cioè sulla commistione uomo-altro da sé. Si osservi (e/o si rilegga), a questo proposito, la prima aggressione del mostro all’ufficiale Kane. In una sorta di abuso sessuale olistico la creatura si avviluppa al volto della vittima, spinge un embrione fin dentro la sua gola, quindi fino al suo stomaco. Il corpo così ingravidato dell’astronauta non regge allo stupro e cade in coma profondo.
Non mi dilungo oltre sui dettagli insiti alla trama principale di Richard O’Bannon (l’autore della sceneggiatura), era solo per darvi un’idea delle stratificazione insite ai sotto-testi di "Alien". Il romanzo è pedissequo al film e in apparenza parte in sordina. Nel senso che prima dell’orrore - e del claustrofobismo - vero e proprio, per qualche pagina si gravita in zona perturbante: dallo spazio profondo, un segnale sconosciuto raggiunge l’astronave mineraria Nostromo, in rotta verso la Terra. Mother, l’intelligenza artificiale di bordo, risveglia dall’iper-sonno l’equipaggio, chiamandolo a investigare sulle origini del messaggio.
La discesa verso la luna Acheron (non a caso: nella mitologia greca l’Acheronte è il fiume dei morti) apre la stura all’incubo. Come in una sorta di carpenteriano Halloween di ambientazione spaziale, l’equipaggio del Nostromo diventa preda dell’entità aliena in agguato nell’ombra: film e romanzo sono la cronaca dettagliata del protrarsi dell’orrore e della lotta per la sopravvivenza che ne consegue.
Se sotto l’aspetto della suspense è difficile spuntarla sullo stra-ordinario tour de force visivo restituito da Ridley Scott, al solido mestiere di Alan Dean Foster si deve la sua puntuale ri-evocazione. Una tesissima rivisitazione consumata senza riletture arbitrarie, piuttosto in assoluta fedeltà di spirito al plot originale. Questo e non altro, in fondo, si chiedeva allo scrittore e questo è quanto ha reso sulla pagina. Molto bene. La ri-edizione per Kappalab del romanzo di Alien (assente dal mercato italiano da più di una ventina d’anni) è dunque da accogliere in senso duplice:
- come salutare e sacrosanta azione di recupero;
- come suggestiva operazione di caratura filologica.
I miei personalissimi complimenti sono a questo punto da estendere all’editore.
